Just a few minutes from Praktik Metropol...

The Gran Vía

Madrid’s most important avenue, the city’s answer to Broadway, the trendiest part of the capital and the ideal place to go to the theatre or see a musical. Fascinating architecture, a variety of stores for a bit of shopping—the Gran Vía has it all!

Puerta del Sol

A 5-minute walk through charming pedestrian streets will take you from the Hotel Praktik Metropol to the sunny Puerta del Sol, with its emblematic statue of the bear rampant and the strawberry tree and some of Madrid’s prettiest buildings.

Calle Mayor

One of Madrid’s main streets, where you’ll find, among many important palaces, the house of Calderón de la Barca, the narrowest in the city.

Chueca district

By simply crossing the street from the Hotel Praktik Metropol you’ll enter Chueca, Madrid’s party district—modern, alternative and gay-friendly to the marrow since the 80s. Restaurants, pubs, discotheques, chic shops purveying garments and design await you day and night in Chueca.

Plaza Mayor

The spectacular porticoed square with 9 entrances, of which the Arco de Cuchilleros (arch of the knife makers) is the most important; being in the Plaza Mayor is like being in a period film, and you’ve only left the hotel half an hour ago.

Palacio Real (Royal Palace)

Over 30 metres in height, the magnificent Royal Palace is the official residence of the King of Spain; its splendid museums contain works by Caravaggio and Goya, among others.

Plaza de Oriente

With gardens, sculptures, and surrounded by the Royal Palace and Royal Theatre, this square, built by Napoleon’s brother Joseph Bonaparte, is an obligatory stopping place in Madrid.

El Retiro Park

Madrid’s most emblematic park, full of statues, pools and romantic corners. A short walk from the Hotel Praktik Metropol will take you to the entrance of the Retiro, where you can enjoy the Palacio de Cristal (Crystal Palace), the lake, the Fountain of the Fallen Angel, the Artichoke Fountain…

The Debod Temple

A gift from Egypt to thank Spain for helping to save other temples: The Debod temple is more than 2,200 years old, and is located in the lovely Parque del Oeste (Park of the West).

Plaza de España

The country’s largest square, with a Madrid modernist building (the Gallardo house) and the emblematic Torre de Madrid (Madrid Tower).

Fountains of Cybele and Neptune

As typical of Madrid as the grilled squid sandwiches served in all the bars near the Praktik Metropol, the fountains dedicated to Cybele and Neptune are a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
